How to Choose a Deployment Plan¶
Overview¶
The "Guance" system observability platform provides full-stack observability as a cloud service for customer application systems. Based on the actual usage scenarios and characteristics of customer applications, multiple deployment plans are available for selection. The optional "Guance" deployment plans include: SaaS Commercial Plan, SaaS Exclusive Plan, and On-Premises Deployment Plan.
Version Information¶
All three deployment plans adopt a pay-as-you-go billing model, meaning the features themselves are free and charges are based on data volume. This model adapts well to customers of different scales—small, medium, and large—who pay according to the amount of data generated.
SaaS Commercial Plan¶
This is the SaaS public version deployed on the cloud. Customers can get started out of the box and quickly have a powerful system observability platform. Simply install DataKit and configure the relevant data collectors to complete observability integration.
Compared to the On-Premises Deployment Plan, the SaaS plan offers many advantages:
Higher Performance: "Guance" observability data mainly consists of time-series metrics data (InfluxDB) and log/text data (Elasticsearch), requiring massive amounts of data to achieve system observability, which consumes significant system resources. Using cloud resources provides powerful hardware support.
More Elastic: Compared to the deployment plan, users do not need to worry about resource scaling or pay for scaled resources. They can focus on their own observability data.
More Secure: Each user's workspace data is isolated at the independent DB level. Data queries are naturally confined to the user's own DB, eliminating data security concerns. All data is stored on Alibaba Cloud storage compliant with Level 3 Information Security Protection requirements.
More Reliable: We follow a fast-iteration model with rapid upgrade cycles. Issues are fixed weekly, and a new version is released every two weeks. The platform's security and stable operation are ensured by a large SRE team.
More Timely Expert Support: The SRC team can respond promptly to customer needs through customer authorization.

SaaS Exclusive Plan¶
Similar to the SaaS Commercial Plan, this is also deployed on the cloud, but the customer has exclusive use, enjoying all the advantages of the SaaS Commercial Plan. Additionally, for the exclusive plan, we deploy a separate "Guance" instance for each customer within their own independent Alibaba Cloud account. Each customer has exclusive use, providing a higher level of security. Billing is also pay-as-you-go, but because the customer has exclusive use and the SRC team provides dedicated support, the price is approximately 20%–30% higher than the SaaS Commercial Plan.

On-Premises Deployment Plan¶
Similar to the SaaS Exclusive Plan, this is also for exclusive use by the customer, but it is deployed on the customer's local physical server resources. The customer needs to prepare their own service resources, incurring a one-time resource cost. The server resource cost is approximately ¥150,000 (depending on the scale of the monitored objects). Deploying on local physical resources loses all the advantages of the cloud; security and reliability must be ensured by the customer, and resources are not elastic. Additionally, if the customer's monitored objects are hybrid (cloud and on-premises), and "Guance" is deployed in a local data center without a fixed public IP, a dedicated line from the cloud provider to the local data center is required to collect data from cloud-based monitored objects into the local "Guance" system. The dedicated line itself represents a significant cost.

In summary, the SaaS Commercial Plan is the most convenient, fastest to integrate, and lowest-cost solution.
