Data Observability FAQ

Why is there no data on the page

Check the following in order:

  1. Whether the current work area is the target workspace for receiving events, and whether the account has query permissions.
  2. Whether the search and filter conditions exclude the target object.
  3. Whether the collection component has OpenLineage enabled and whether events are sent successfully.

You can first clear the filters, search for the name in the jobs, and then check the inputs and outputs.

Why can I see jobs but not data assets

Data assets require the input and output information of the jobs to be collected. Open the Input and Output of the corresponding run and check whether the data assets read and produced are displayed.

If not, check whether the component you are using supports input/output collection and whether the related configuration is enabled.

Why is a table displayed as Dataset

Dataset is the general type for data assets. When the specific type information is not collected, the asset is displayed as Dataset. You can check the collection configuration to confirm whether type information such as tables, views, topics, or files is supported.

Why does the run count differ between the overview and the jobs page

The overview only counts runs that have ended, including succeeded, failed, and terminated runs. The jobs page also includes runs that are running and unknown.

Why does a run keep showing as running or unknown

The end status of the run may not have been obtained yet. Check whether the status information after the job ends is collected successfully.

Why is there no error detail for failed runs

Run status and error details are different pieces of collection information. Check whether the component you are using supports error information collection and whether the related configuration is enabled.

Why can I not see fields or field lineage

Check the reporting status in Collected Information on the data asset overview, and confirm that field structure collection and field lineage collection are enabled.

Field structure is used to display field names, types, and descriptions. Field lineage is used to display the upstream and downstream sources of fields. The two need to be collected separately.

Why does the row count not equal the total row count of the table

Input and output statistics represent the amount of data read or produced in a single run. For example, if an incremental job outputs 1,000 rows this time, it indicates the amount written in that run, not the total number of rows in the target table.

When comparing statistics, confirm the run record, input/output direction, time, and unit.

Why is the 7-day success rate displayed as unavailable

This metric applies to batch jobs. The metric is unavailable when the processing type has not been collected, the job does not apply, or there are no runs that have ended in the last 7 days.
