Work Area¶
The Work Area is a temporary multi-page workspace that can simultaneously retain pages such as Dashboards, Logs, Traces, and RUM. When troubleshooting, you can quickly switch between different pages without repeatedly returning to the menu or resetting query conditions.
Work Area Mode¶
When you first join a page, the system enters Work Area mode. The Work Area bar is displayed at the top of the business page, allowing you to switch between multiple tabs. After closing the last tab or closing the entire Work Area, the system exits Work Area mode.
Entering the Work Area¶
Entering from a Dashboard¶
Go to Use Cases > Dashboard, open any dashboard detail page, then click the Work Area icon in the upper-right corner of the page to add the current dashboard to the Work Area.
Using Shortcut Keys¶
On the current page, use the following shortcut keys to add the current page to the Work Area:
- Windows: Alt+Shift+W
- macOS: Option+Shift+W
After using the shortcut keys:
- In normal browsing mode: The system enters Work Area mode and creates the current page as the first tab.
- In Work Area mode: The system creates the current page as a new independent tab. Even if the page is already in the Work Area, it will be created again.
Note
The shortcut keys are not triggered when an input field, text area, or dropdown selector has focus. If they conflict with system-level shortcut keys, the system shortcut keys take precedence.
After first joining:
- The current dashboard becomes the first work item and is displayed as a tab.
- The tab title shows "Use Cases | Dashboard name" for quick identification.
Adding Pages¶
Adding the Current Page¶
Click the Work Area icon in the action area of the current page to add the current page as a new tab.
Even if the page is already in the Work Area, clicking again will still create an independent tab, which is suitable for retaining different query conditions in the same explorer.
Adding via +¶
- Click + in the Work Area tab bar at the top.
- Search for or select the module you want to open.
You can add common modules such as Dashboards, Log Explorer, Trace Explorer, RUM Explorer, Host Explorer, Event Explorer, Metrics Analysis, and Custom Explorer. After entering the module, select a specific dashboard, log index, or service.
Adding via the Left Navigation Menu¶
When you are in Work Area mode, hover over the target menu in the left navigation menu. Menus that support being added to the Work Area display a Work Area icon on the right. Click this icon to open the target page in a new tab while retaining the current page.
Limitations¶
- The Work Area can open up to 8 pages at the same time.
- The Work Area is only for temporary troubleshooting and does not support saving, sharing, sorting, dragging, or transferring across windows.
- Work Area content is only saved in the current browser page session. It is not guaranteed to be restored after refreshing the page, logging out, or switching workspaces.
